It’s Wednesday and we thought we’d share some fun shots of what all of us here at The Gold Market are wearing on our wrist today. Stay tuned to check us out next week and feel free to share a photo @goldmarketdiamondjewelers to show us what’s on your wrist today!
Wednesdays are my happy day! Maybe because I was born on a Wednesday and positive things seem to happen. Growing up in a family from Burma, I’ve learned how the days of the week are a super important component of the Burmese calendar and culture. For example, growing up I was told that I should never to marry a man that was born on a Monday because supposedly Monday borns don’t get along with Wednesday borns. This haunted me during my dating years and I was very relieved to learn (after we were married) that my husband was actually born on a Thursday! Whew!
The Burmese zodiac is closely identified with astrology, and consists of not only the same 12 Western zodiac, but also 27 lunar mansions of the month and 8-weekday signs in a 7-day week. Each sign representing its own day, cardinal direction, planet (celestial body) and animal. Wednesday was split into 2 so they would have 8 days in the week (the number 8 is important and lucky in their astrology and culture), and is represented by the tusked Elephant if you’re born before noon, and tusk less Elephant (me!) if born after noon.
